clear they are saying 'pri/eved' and not 'privet', and further enlightenment 
would be greatly appreciated.]

Along the same lines, try pronouncing "uzhos" with the stress on "u" but 
making sure that the "o" (which should've been an "a" in the first place) 
sounds like an "o".
