You can try "U woiny ne zhenskoe litso" by Svetlana Alexievich and the works
of Vassil Bykov.
Also: "Blokadnaya kniga" by Adamovich and Granin:
"Hatynskaya povest' by Adamovich (this is about the village in Belarus burnt
with all its people".
