Liudmila Ulitskaia's "Russkoe varen'e" (a play) is one of the best adaptations of "Cherry Orchard" for our times, not just as far as plot motifs and elements but for its [hilosophy, in relation to that of the Chekhov play. Also, both as grotesquely funny and as sad as the Chekhov.
