There is some information about this salon in Arkady Vaksberg's "Stalin 
Against the Jews," but I would not use this book as a reliable 
scholarly source.

I forwarded your inquiry to a friend of mine who is a relative of
Grossman's and lives now in San Francisco. Another thought that crossed
my mind in connection with Utesov was Fred Starr (Red and Hot).  As for
Mikhoels, I might come across something in my mistories of Soviet
Theater.  If so, I'll let you know.
