Dear Tony,

I am a dissertator at UW-Madison. I'm writing a dissertation on Tolstoy's W&P and am very familiar with Grossman's Z&S.

My disseration is entitled: The Politics of Identity: The Figuration and Critique of Self & Nation in Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace.

If interested, I would be able to speak on what I view as Tolstoy's critique of history as allegory.

Best,

MPM

The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

                                            - William Faulkner
