I have had this query from a colleague:

Re the already very aged Tolstoy's thinking (in sum) (as he looks upon all the 
characters he has created in the books on his shelves) that God should grant 
him/decide that he must live to 125 so as to able to fulfil his remaining  
plans. Do you know where this piece belongs ? Someone's memoirs? Gorky (a 
bit dubious perhaps). Bunin ?
