Have the student study this site -- http://winrus.com/kbd_e.htm#contVista <https://mail.healthcare.uiowa.edu/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://winrus.com/kbd_e.htm%23contVista> , especially the section titled <<Phonetic installation Part 2 - for Windows 7/Vista and XP/2003 (Part 1 showed how to download .ZIP with needed files)>>. There, he will find guidelines to install phonetic Russian on your computer. For his information, phonetic Russian is good in that its Cyrillic characters match to the English ones, except for just a few that English lacks.

Dear Michael,

I have a student who owns a PC, and, when he tried to follow directions on the AATSEEL website about downloading a Russian font, he didn't succeed.Can you suggest something in addition to those instructions?  I am a Mac user, so I couldn't help him.Many thanks,Olga Zaslavsky, PhD
