Dear colleagues,

I got an email that I assume others on this list will also get in some version. It is for a new journal called History Research, published by David Publishing Co., in Libertyville, Il. (They got my name off of a conference program, it appears.) The email seemed somewhat odd to me, so I did a little research online and found that at least one other journal published by the same company has requested payment for publication after the review process was nominally over. Maybe someone else on the list has direct experience with the company and its journals, and can add more detail. Unless others here have contrary information they're willing to share, I suggest simply deleting the email and letting your students know that it's likely a waste of their time and effort to try and publish their work by this route. You might also let your librarians know.
