Vadim Medish 1924-2011

	I regret to inform SEELANGS of the death of a good friend and  
colleague, Vadim Medish, professor emeritus of language and foreign  
studies, and author of the widely-used college textbook, The Soviet  
Union (Prentice-Hall, 1981), which was published in several editions.   
Prof. Medish  passed away in Washington, D.C., on May 22 of congestive  
heart failure. He was 86 years old.  For those wishing greater detail
