Dear Colleagues:

Next year I will be teaching an undergraduate course in which the students will be reading THE MASTER & MARGARITA in translation. If you have used the novel in a course, which English translation have you found to be the most successful? By successful I mean a generally faithful translation that captures the humor and satire, but also provides some additional background information. As a reminder the choices are the Ginsburg, Glenny, Peavar/Volokhonsky, or Burgin/O'Connor translation. I would appreciate any recommendations. Please reply to me off list at cynthia.ruder at uky.edu<mailto:cynthia.ruder at uky.edu>. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Best, Cindy
