Dear SEELANG-ers,

The online global literature journal, Asymptote, has just released its second anniversary issue at www.asymptotejournal.com.

Including fiction, poetry, non-fiction, criticism, and author interviews from all across the globe, this quarter’s issue features a wide range of work from across Russia, and Eastern Europe. Our Non-fiction section features a wonderful excerpt from Robert Chandler’s translation of Vasily Grossman’s An Armenian Sketchbook, as well as an extended essay by the translator on his working with the text in question, while our criticism section also features a review of Jamey Gambrell’s translation of Leonid Tsypkin's The Bridge Over the Neroch: And Other Works by Michael Stein. Elsewhere, our poetry section features poems by Russians Gennady Aygi, and Osip Mandelstam, and Slovenian poet, Aleš Debeljak, in addition to a special feature by Cosmin Borza discussing contemporary Romanian poetry and poets.

It is, we think, our best issue yet—and one that stands as a testament to our two years together. We hope you enjoy it, and can share it with friends and colleagues.

Best wishes,

 Nicholas Skidmore,

Assistant Editor, Asymptote
