binary code in Russian religious thought

Dear all,

I seem to recall coming across a Russian religious philosopher who wrote about zeroes and ones.  I remember thinking it was very similar to binary code, but of course far far ahead of its time.  I don't recall the name however.  Does anyone have any idea of whom I'm thinking of?
