For your purposes, you can use my recent book, _The Decembrist Myth in Russian Culture_ (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009). It is not geared toward an undergraduate audience, but it surveys Lotman and other writings on the Decembrists and the manipulation of the Decembrists' image for political purposes from the 19th century to the present.
