Applications are invited for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Russian at the University of Kentucky to begin August 2014. The successful applicant’s tenure home will be in the Department of Modern & Classical Languages, Literatures, & Cultures, a dynamic academic unit committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and dialogue among faculty with diverse geographical interests, theoretical concerns, and methodological approaches.  Applicants must have Ph.D. in hand by August 2014.  We seek candidates who can teach all levels of Russian language, courses in 20th/21st-century Russian literature, culture, and film, as well as participate in the implementation of an innovative new Russian Studies major.  Active participation in the academic life of the Department is also expected.  The teaching load is two courses per semester. Qualifications include a PhD in Slavic Studies with a focus on 20th/21st-century Russian literary, film, or cultural studies, knowledge of current language pedagogy, successful experience in teaching Russian, a robust research program, and native or near-native fluency in English and Russian.
