Молодец!
And credit where it's due. The astronomer who discovered and named the
asteroid that bears Victor Jara's name was a Russian: Nikolai
Stepanovich Chernykh. He did so on September 22, 1973, a few days
after Jara's death at the hands of the Chilean junta.
Also according to Wikipedia, the Russian bard Alexander Gradsky in
1985 wrote a rock opera devoted to Jara called Стадион, recounting the
circumstances of Jara's death.
And returning to the "American analog" theme. Phil Ochs - who had met
Jara during a visit to South America - organised a memorial concert
for him in 1974. Among those who performed in his honour were Bob
Dylan, Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie.
