Help with a phrase: Ежкин кот!

Hello Folks,

Can someone fill me in on the phrase "Ежкин кот!" ?  In context it  appears
to be used as an exclamation of frustration when something goes wrong, like
"Damn and blast!"  But googling turns up a pet store by that name so I'm
betting it has a fun etymology.
