I wonder if any person or persons who were at the Siouan & Caddoan
Conference this past weekend (June 2-3) would be willing to post a summary
or postmortem?

The same would be desirable for the informal Dhegiha para-session held the
afternoon of June 1st.

It would also be nice to see a summary and list of action items with
regard to the future management of the meeting.

I will say for myself that the Wichita Tribe were very kind hosts with a
beautiful Tribal Center and this was a very pleasant conference. Though it
was demonstrated that linguists as a whole are not particularly good at
the handgame, the north side covered itself with glory with the aid of
Mark Swetland, Jimm Good Tracks, and Louanna Furbee and her husband, as
well quite a number of local people whose names I do not know, apart from
one, Jimmy Reeder, who was singing on that side of the drum. I played on
the south side and was guessed immediately at every trial, even dropping
the bead several times. I'd like to thank the Wichita Language Class for
putting up the handgame and taking my ineptitude with with such good
grace. Ahau!
