I'm not sure what John was referring to in his reply to my post about 'be alive' requiring a different verb from thi or othi, but the normal way to say 'live' in the sense of 'be alive' is /ni/ or /nitta/. It's a verb conjugated anitta, dhanitta, etc. in Dhegiha. 'live in a place' is the (o)-tti verb. I can't speak for Dakotan. Bob
