Incidentally, this is another example of the 'truncating stem' pattern of
compound.  Presumably kkaNsi < *hkaNt-su.  Maybe kkaN'de < *hkaNt-e,
though there are certainly other ways to look at it, that don't require e
to be treated as a morpheme (of whatever origin).
