On a more serious note than my last posting, we had a good deal of
discussion on the meaning and function of the prefix wa- sometime back on
this list.  Rather than recapitulate my own contributions, such as they
were, here, it would probably be easiest for those interested in the topic
to go to John's archive and look up the pertinent postings.  You can either
find it at John Koontz's web site or on Linguist List -- I can't recall
which.
