I don't know if that would be a "traditional" term or not, but it's a
darn good translation -- probably the best I've seen so far.  Please

I asked one of our speakers last night what the Omaha
for 'prairie' was.  She couldn't think of it at the
time, but called me back this afternoon after consulting
with two other speakers.  The word they came up with is xa'de-maNz^aN',
literally 'grass-land'.  I don't recall if this was mentioned before in
the discussion.
