Something similar has happened in Crow, although the forms are not cognate. Hidatsa has xupa'a 'holy, sacred', and Crow has baaxpa'a < baa-x(u)pa'a. </BLOCKQUOTE><BR>
Although the Crow form has the baa- prefix, it is a stative verb and not a noun.<BR>
