<P>Nasal vowels (â, î, ô, û) are pronounced by depressing the tongue and
allowing air to pass out the nasal passages. The letter 'ô', which is not now
phonemic, despite the fact that it can be heard in many words, was once phonemic
in an earlier stage of the language.</P>
<P>Usually every third syllable is accented, although the matter is very
complex.</P>
