blanc" ('white bear'). According to Patrick Gass and J. Ordway, two <BR>

members of the Lewis and Clark expedition, this name came from the <BR>

"Natives".<BR>

<BR>

Does anyone know an Amerindian language in which the name for the <BR>

grizzly corresponds to "white bear"?<BR>
