A light has gone out for us all. I would never have studied a Siouan<br>
language if Bob had not used his wonderful powers of persuasion to<br>
convince Louanna Furbee to set aside Mayan languages for a little<br>
while, from a sense of duty of being at Mizzou. He drove to<br>
Columbia to give us a huge packet of materials, and did a long<br>
workshop of introduction to Siouan linguistics. And that was just<br>
the beginning. Not to mention opening his home for so many<br>
gatherings.<br>
So generous, so scholarly, so dedicated.<br>
