<p>This is dreadful news. I met Bob once (in 1995) and was delighted to be able to thank him for his generosity to me with his Dhegiha materials. He was just a splendid person and his linguistic achievements were known to so few. I recommended his chapter
on the Comparative Method to my students just a few weeks back.</p>
