Dear SLLING List Members:
I am happy to announce that our new Special Feature for February 1st is now
posted on our web site:

SignWritingSite
http://www.SignWriting.org

It is the first article in our new forum:

SignWriting Software Developer's Forum
http://www.SignWriting.org/soft000.html

The article is entitled:

SIGN DIC
a bilingual dictionary program between signed and spoken languages
by Daniela Remião de Macedo
http://www.SignWriting.org/soft002.html

I think you will agree with me that Daniela's screen designs are adorable!
The illustration of the dog, and the handshapes, and the book and other
icons makes Sign Dic an appealing and charming program to work with. I know
that children will really want to learn language when using Sign Dic, which
is so important.

Like a lot of SignWriting software, Sign Dic is not ready yet. This new
article posted today is showing what is in the planning stages. Daniela,
who lives in Porto Alegre, Brazil, is creating Sign Dic as a part of her
studies at the University. But Daniela is a professional software designer
by profession, so she is applying her expertise to this new field. We are
fortunate!

Daniela tells me that later, once the Brazilian Sign Language and
Portuguese dictionary is running in Sign Dic, that other signed and spoken
languages can use Sign Dic too. So here in the USA, I hope we can create
ASL and English dictionaries in Sign Dic later.

So...take a look at Sign Dic up on the web...I know you will enjoy it!!

All the best -

Valerie :-)
