The National Association of School Psychologists
Interest Group on Children who are Deaf or Hard or Hearing

is pleased to announce the formation of our web site and discussion group
list server.

While interest group membership is open to any member of the
National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) who is concerned with
providing quality psychological services to children who are deaf or
hard-of-hearing, the list serve and web site are open to nonmembers as well.
The interest group was founded to help school psychologists obtain
information about students with the low-incidence disability of hearing loss
and to recognize the unique needs of children who are deaf or
hard-of-hearing in the schools. Working with students who are deaf or
hard-of-hearing requires special communication abilities, professional
knowledge about the social and academic implications of the low incidence of
deafness, as well as professional skills in the use of nonverbal
assessments.

NASP is willing to assist all school psychologists working with this
population by hosting these electronic exchanges. Our goal is to permit
interested professionals to exchange questions, ideas, and suggestions with
others working in the same field.

The web site currently is a reference page for recommended readings,
resources, and links to other helpful sites. The page can be located as
part of www.naspweb.org at www.naspweb.org/services/members/deaf.htm
Please send suggestions for other links and materials to Steven Hardy-Braz
