RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Research assistant wanted for an NIH project with Peter and Jill de
Villiers at Smith College that focuses on the relationship between
normally-hearing and deaf children's acquisition of language and their
social-cognitive development, specifically their understanding about
their own and others' mental states.  Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in
psychology, linguistics, or deaf education, or a related field;
coursework in language acquisition; experience in testing hearing
preschoolers and deaf or language delayed children preferred; computer
experience in data analysis desirable.  Salary for this one-year position
beginning August 1, 1999, is $22,500-24,500 depending on qualifications
and experience, plus employee benefits.
