Felix,

Thanks for the information. How's life back in HK, and how is your
research? Is your baby doing well?

Re the Y handshape in HKSL, do you think it's based on the Chinese
character for person? It's curious that it's also found in Thai SL
(Collins-Ahlgren, 1990) and Taiwanese SL (Smith, 1989). I believe
Taiwanese SL has had some influence from Chinese SL, but is the same
true of Thai SL, I wonder?

Some of my questions could be answered if I could come to the
conference in HK in two weeks time, but alas, I am too busy at
the moment. We are missing a number of staff here at CDS and I am
doing a great deal of extra work. Good news - at least I have
finished my PhD!

I have decided to leave CDS and return to Sydney. My partner and I
miss our friends, family and Australian lifestyle too much. I will
return probably in August 2002, and begin work on a book project with
Trevor Johnston.

Give my best wishes to Gladys Tang if you see her, and I hope the
conference in HK is a great success!

Best wishes,
Adam
