Call for Presentations

The NZSLTA (New Zealand Sign Language Teachers Association) conference is an opportunity for NZSL teachers and researchers to share their experiences, resources and ideas, to discuss developments in the field, and to network with others involved in NZSL teaching and learning.

We are seeking presenters for the conference programme. Our theme this year is ‘Challenges in Sign Language Teaching’. We welcome all people involved in sign language teaching and learning to offer a presentation or workshop on the following areas:
• Teaching above beginners level
• Teaching challenging NZSL grammar structures
• Update on NZSL community classes: funding, organisation, availability
• Using digital media to teach NZSL
• Encouraging learning outside the classroom
• Mentoring: improving teaching awareness and skills

We welcome other ideas for presentations and workshops. All presentations and workshops may be:
• Lecture-style (30 minute presentation, 10 minutes for questions); or
• Practical workshop (1 hour or 90-minute)
