Hello everyone and happy new year!

In 2018, the University of Birmingham here in the UK hosted the first Sign CAFÉ workshop: https://www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/edacs/departments/englishlanguage/events/2018/sign-cafe.aspx.

This workshop was the first international gathering of sign language researchers interested in cognitive/functional approaches to sign language linguistics, and was intended to start a new workshop series for the international sign language linguistics community. The workshop was a success, and everyone agreed that we should organise a follow-up Sign CAFÉ 2 to be held in 2020.

If you attended Sign CAFÉ 1 and/or are interested in coming to Sign CAFÉ 2, please vote for the host country for Sign CAFÉ 2 by going to the following website (https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/B56F9RD) and answering a short set of questions. We have three host countries that have put in bids to host Sign CAFÉ 2: Norway, Italy and The Netherlands. You will find a brief summary of the information provided for each bid on the survey page. I have tried to ensure that similar amounts of information are provided in each summary so as to ensure a balance, but each bid includes different information about what each host can offer. Please vote for each host country in order of your preference by numbering each bid as 1, 2 or 3. Responses which do not vote for all three bids in order of preference may be excluded from the final count.

The survey ends on 20th January, 2019, so get your votes in as soon as possible!

If you have any questions about this process, please contact me.

Thank you,
Adam Schembri
