studentship linked to the British Sign Language (BSL) Corpus Project is now
available. The studentship is a 1+3 award (1 year Master’s degree programme and
3-year PhD). The funding will cover UK/EU student fees and a standard bursary
(£14,300 per year). The studentship may be based <u>either</u> at University
College London <u>or</u> at Bangor University (see options 1 or 2 below). <o:p></o:p></span></div>

Project is a three year project (January 2008-December 2010) funded by the UK
Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) that aims to (1) create an on-line,
open access corpus of annotated BSL digital video data and (2) to conduct
corpus-based studies into sociolinguistic variation, language change, language

is expected to make a significant contribution to the annotation, tagging or
