a pioneer of sign linguistic research in the <st1:country-region w:st="on">UK</st1:country-region>
and <st1:place w:st="on">Europe</st1:place>. An annual visiting fellowship in
her memory has been established by the ESRC Deafness, Cognition and Language
Research Centre at University College London. The holder of the fellowship will
be expected to spend a minimum of three weeks at DCAL, undertaking independent
and collaborative work with DCAL researchers, and present one public lecture at
UCL. A travel and subsistence allowance of £2750 is available together with an
honorarium of £500. There may also be opportunities to present lectures in <st1:City
w:st="on">Durham</st1:City> and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Edinburgh</st1:City></st1:place>,
two cities which were closely associated with Mary’s work. Additional
honoraria, travel and subsistence allowances would be available for <st1:City
w:st="on">Durham</st1:City> and <st1:City w:st="on">Edinburgh</st1:City>
lectures (supported by <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Durham</st1:PlaceName>, <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Heriot-Watt</st1:PlaceName>
