At the moment I´m writing my final year dissertation. I am looking into the function of pictures in „medizinischen Patientenaufklärungsbögen“ – patient education forms. These are a type of leaflet explaining in detail medical procedures. My goal is to find out if the pictures in these forms influence the sign language production. For example if they influence the modality of classifier signs or the space used in sign language production.<br/>My question is, does anyone of you know of any studies in that field in general, or studies about pictures and their influence on language production (even in spoken languages).<br/>In particular, I am looking for any research dealing with the use of space in sign languages in relation to cultural influences.
