<i>The role of gesture in the acquisition of a sign language as a second language</i>. The colloquium will take place on June 9<sup>th</sup>, 2017 at Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In this colloquium I will present the results of a three-year
project funded by the Dutch National Science Foundation which explores how non-signers’ gestures influence sign acquisition at first exposure to a conventionalised sign language. We are delighted to have Vikki Janke (Kent University), Chloë Marshall (University
College London), and Johanna Mesch (Stockholm University) who will also present their latest work on the topic. This event will be relevant to sign language researchers as well as students and teachers of a sign language as a second language.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Interpretation to Sign Language of the Netherlands and International Sign will be provided, as well as speech-to-text transcription. The event is free but you should register to secure a space.
