Tension Symbols in ASL

Dear SignWriting List Members!
Using the SignBank Online Dictionary has been a wonderful
experience...I just go to:

SignBank Online Dictionary
http://www.SignBank.org

and link to the dictonary. Then I type in the search word "America",
and I found the signs in the attached diagram. Notice how the Tension
Symbol can be used (the third sign in the list) to replace the sign for
PERSON...The third sign in the list is actually used more, I believe,
when fluent ASL signers are conversing with each other...The sign for
PERSON is dropped...
