> The graduate students in Linguistics at Gallaudet University invite
> current graduate students to participate in an all-student conference.
> SignWISE has been initiated with the goal of developing a community
> among graduate students interested in the area of American Sign
> Language Linguistics.  In keeping with this aim, we hope to create an
> environment to allow for dialogue about research that graduate
> students around the country are conducting on ASL.
>
> We will provide all interested participants with the same data to be
> used for their analysis.  The topic for analysis is open: discourse
> issues, mental space blends, role shifting, gestures, phonology,
> syntax.  We envision participants giving 10-15 minute presentations
> followed by 15-20 minute roundtable discussions about each
> presentation. There will also be a forum for discussion of theory and
> methods, as well as time for collaborative work.
>
> Please check out our website at org.gallaudet.edu/signwise for more
> information, including a call for abstracts, tentative schedule, a
> sample clip of the data, and more.
