SignWriting List
July 14, 2004

Dear SW List, Hope and Stefan -
Gosh. I am blushing with your kind words...my face is turning red - ha!!

It is true that I have a seat of iron...I sit for long hours until jobs
are done. Back in the mid-1970's we used to do DanceWriting documents
with transfer sheets of wax symbols. I would create beautiful
DanceWriting documents with those wax symbols...it took 8 hours to do
one full page of DanceWriting. The Bournonville Monday School book,
which preserved the dances taught at the Royal Danish Ballet....that
book was 40 full pages of DanceWriting, so I sat steadily for 40 days
to finish it...never taking a break....My family joked about this
saying that I had an iron seat (meaning that I could sit for long
times) and an iron will (I never stopped until I was finished)...the
book took 40 days and 40 nights! That was back in 1975 and I am still
doing this in 2004 ;-)

Well...the IMWA is wonderful because I am listing DanceWriting and
SignWriting symbols together in a long listing that will give us a
chance to really share the entire writing system...So it is worth it,
although I must say I am getting a little tired of it...

And regarding names...Every language has beautiful names and Hope is
one of the most beautiful in the English language, I think, because it
is so hopeful!!! smile... We even have the name Faith...and some are
named after the months...April, May and June...I have never met a
person named July though, have you? ;-)

Val ;-)
