[sw-l] Typing SW rather than using a mouse

Thinking out loud.

It would be kind of strange if at the end of the day you had something like,

"jku,m fm,tm" or a syllabary in Roman letters and punctuation for the keystrokes of sign language.

We are needing to try all sorts of layouts and input methodologies to ensure SW independence of method.

The mouse interface of SignMaker is great, but for
everyday use such as sending emails and writing
letters would the mouse be too slow and unhealthy
(RSI)?

I think typing from the keyboard will be very
difficult. Typing ##-##-###-##-##-##,##,## a few
times for each sign is just too many keystrokes. I
have tried to make it more compact, but don't think
I've been very successful.

I wrote

for Microsoft Explorer. Just type into the green box
like this:

aa SPACE g2 SPACE 2g SPACE k123456 ENTER

:-) glosses are lots easier, but the above is a third
or better more compact than typing
##-##-###-##-##-##,##,## directly.

Maybe typing using a Chinese like method would be
better.

Just thinking out loud...

regards,
