The only extra information I have is:

28 May 2004 -- The Fiji Association of the Deaf has just applied for a
volunteer through Australian Volunteers International. They have put
together the job description below: Position: Sign Language project
worker. Objective(s) of the position: To develop and document Fijian sign
language with members of the Association. Major duties and
responsibilities: 1) To work with the Deaf community around Fiji to find
out the signs used, to participate in workshops to develop an agreed Fijian
sign language and then to produce a sign language dictionary. 2) To teach
members of the Deaf community and interpreters the signs. 3) To support
the Fiji Association of the Deaf to run an advocacy campaign to have the
language accepted as a community one. 4) To train interpreters. It will
be a two year position.

Perhaps if you contact Australian Volunteers International you can get some
more information.

Geoffrey

Subject: [sw-l] Fiji Association of the Deaf

Hello list,

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Fiji Association of
the Deaf. The president of the association is Serevi Rokotuibua. I
was only able to find a physical address.

I read a news story that they are starting a 2 year project to complete a
Fiji sign langauge dictionary. I do not know if they will be using
SignWriting.

Thanks,
-Steve
