SignWriting in US Schools...(also continued next message)

1. SignWriting has been used in the Albuquerque Public School System
in New Mexico, USA, since 1999.

It was first initiated by a combination of donated materials and a
research project by Dr. Cecilia Flood, but now it continues in some
classrooms because teachers feel it is important...not because anyone
is asking them to do it. Some teach using SignWriting software,
others teach writing SignWriting by hand...so handwriting skills must
be developing...
