Maybe you could write it in gloss, then write a bit in SignWriting, to show your teacher that gloss is not at all an accurate way to write ASL, but SW is...

Hi:

Thank you.  1X and Pro-1 stand for first person and are the same; meaning they both are gloss for "I"; my professor prefers Pro-1. 
The story I chose to write (try to!) in gloss is "It's not Easy to Be Deaf" by Peter Cook from his "US of ASL Poetry"
