Hello all:
I am interpreting a concert into ASL at the end of this month ... and
the director has decided to have one song be sung not only in its
English translation, but partially in French (its original language),
Italian, Russian, and Yiddish.
Can somebody help me put the French-language and Italian-language
lines into geographically-equivalent signed languages? Fortunately,
there are people here in Boston that can help with Russian and/or
Jewish/Israeli Sign. I'll also consider learning the whole stanza in
Gestuno, if anyone here knows it, to show the change in the singers'
language/s.
If you can help me with the French, Andre, that would be really great
-- this performance is to honor an event 100 years ago whose
participants would have probably been from French Canada, rather than
France itself.
And yesterday, I was handed yet another text with a one-sentence
German text, "Die Gedanken sind frei". Any DGS translations of that
famous poem/song anywhere among the SignWritten literature that anyone
knows of?
I'll be happy to pay / barter / send you concert tickets ....
Best,
Kim from Boston
