Hello Madson and everyone:
I am answering your question to the SignWriting List, because I am sure others also have the same questions…

QUESTION:

ANSWER:

SignPuddle Software includes SignMaker, for making dictionary entries, and SignText, for making documents…Both SignMaker and SignText can be used in the same puddle file … for example…the ASL Bible Puddle has both dictionary and documents in one huge SignPuddle file…

But because one file can become so large, I decided years ago that it would be wise to try to sequester all the documents in one puddle file, and all the dictionary entries in a separate puddle file…Meanwhile, all the files can communicate with each other - You can use the Translate feature in a dictionary puddle and then place the translation into a literature puddle - so the puddle files do communicate with each other…

So when you go to the SignPuddle for Brazil:

http://www.signbank.org/signpuddle/index3.html#sgn-BR

You can click on the Dictionary icon to go to the LIBRAS dictionary, or click on Literature to see the Literature we have online in SignPuddle - which I hope you will add to...

Once you are in the Dictionary use the Translate feature . Once you push the Update button, the translation will give you a choice as to which SignPuddle file you want to transfer the translation into….and choose the Literature for Brazil - so you can start with the dictionary to do your translation and load it into the Literature puddle to complete the document, making changes to some signs and adding some signs etc, then save it and it will be in the Literature puddle -
