Hello Everyone -
Thank you to everyone for the discussion.

The symbol that you have already discussed is the correct one, Adam - 01-06-009-01-01-03 - Although it is fun to play around with symbols, the ISWA 2010 is based on Rootshapes, that are defined, and the 01-06-009-01-01-03 is following the Rootshapes properly … According to the definitions of the Rootshapes, one cannot have a Square Rootshape symbol and not have at least one finger touching the palm of the hand, as you can see by this attached graphic. This graphic is taken from the textbook: SignWriting Hand Symbols Manual, numbered pages 2 and 3 in the book, and in the PDF it is the 12th & 13th pages… http://www.signwriting.org/archive/docs9/sw0826_SignWriting_Hand_Symbols_Manual_Sutton_Frost_2013.pdf

I want to point out that there are actually three other Rootshapes not listed here…which we could discuss someday … One of them is related to the Heel of Hand, which has another Rootshape - and the two others are related to DanceWriting and MovementWriting hand symbols that are not used in writing sign languages -

Val ;-)
