Dissertation about SL Avatar

Hi all,

I'm a student reading for a B.Sc. (Hons) in Human Language Technology at the University of 
Malta. For my dissertation I'm interested in developing an avatar for Maltese Sign Language, 
where from a corpus of Sign Writing (and maybe Maltese words), the avatar does the signing.

Could you direct me to any readings that might help throughout the dissertation please, and 
any examples which already exist? I already found a few through a web search, but I'm sure 
I'm missing out on most of them.
