Hello everyone,


First of all, I would like to say that on behalf of myself and my group we feel honored to be part of this Discussion Group. My name is Jorge Bidarra. I am professor and researcher of the Master's and Doctorate Program of Letters and also of the Undergraduate Course in Computer Science of the State University of Western Paraná (UNIOESTE - campus of Cascavel - https://www5.unioeste.br/portalunioeste /). I coordinate the Group of Study and Research PORLIBRAS, in which, together with Masters and Doctoral students under my guidance, in partnership with other Professors and Researchers, as well as Institutions (including the Center for Sutton Movement Writing), we develop Studies related to Brazilian Sign Language (Libras). Our interested areas are Natural Language Processing (PLN), Computational Linguistics, Theoretical and Corpus Linguistics, Lexicography/Lexicology and Assistive Technologies. We hope to be able to contribute with the debates, ideas and exchanges of knowledge. From July 16th to 27th, 2018 we and Sutton´s team will promote the SignWriting Winter Course that will take place at our University, on the campus of Cascavel.

Caros Colegas, boa tarde!


Primeiramente, eu gostaria de dizer, em meu nome e do meu Grupo, que nos sentimos bastante honrados de fazer parte desse Grupo de Discussões. Permitam-me que eu me apresente: sou o Professor Jorge Bidarra, docente e pesquisador do Programa de Mestrado e Doutorado de Letras e também do Curso de Graduação em Ciência da Computação da Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE - campus de Cascavel - https://www5.unioeste.br/portalunioeste/). Coordeno o Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisa PORLIBRAS, no qual, juntamente com alunos de Mestrado e Doutorado sob a minha orientação, em parceria com outros Professores e Pesquisadores, bem como Instituições (incluindo-se aqui o Center for Sutton Movement Writing), desenvolvemos Estudos, Pesquisas e ministramos minicursos no âmbito da Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras), com ou sem interface com o Português Brasileiro (PB). Dentre as áreas de pesquisa do nosso interesse estão o Processamento da Linguagem Natural (PLN),  Linguística Computacional, Linguística Teóica e de Corpus, Lexicografia/Lexicologia e  Tecnologias Assistivas. Esperamos poder contribuir  com os debates, ideias e trocas de conhecimento do interesse de todos. No conjunto das atividades em curso, uma delas diz respeito ao Curso de Inverno de SignWriting que acontecerá em nossa Universidade, no campus de Cascavel, entre os dias 16 e 27 de julho de 2018, resultado da parceria estabelecida com a Profa. Valerie Sutton, Adam Frost (ministrante do curso) e Stephen E. Slevinski. Com estima e apreço, atenciosamente, Jorge.
