<P>I think you should be carefull in your opions about Patrick. I talked to him and he had some very good points. He made me think about SignWriting in a different way. Now I don't know him that well, and don't know the situation in Ireland all that good... but he seems to be the kind of man who doesn't just jump into a new method without being very sure it's a good thing. He's really researching the options and I think you'll find if he sees that SW really works, he'll get on board..</P>
<P>The thing is that pioniers must take the full responsibility of what they started. When I started using SignWriting in my classroom I didn't really research it at first. I just believed Kristof who said it's good. Lucky for me it worked out and I learned about it along the way. But I did make a lot of mistakes that my pupils now have to correct. </P>
<P>Which is better... starting something new and learning along -with the change it may fail-, or first getting all the information before starting and spreading it??</P>
<P>Patrick was very open and wants to ask more about my working with SignWriting as an educational tool.. so that's great news on it's own.. no?</P>
<P>I asked the director about NISL and ISL, I remember you told me that there is a difference.. right? But they told me it's more a dialect.. like in Flanders. So the interpreters should learn this too.. right? And is ISL recognized in Nothern Ireland or NISL and BSL?</P>

<DIV></DIV>I am very impressed by the deaf academics in Belgium, the Netherlands,
<DIV></DIV>Germany etc - they DO get involved in deaf politics, trying to change
<DIV></DIV>deaf education - for instance Thierry on the LSFB Commission, his hard
<DIV></DIV>works with the deaf schools in South Belgium - and for instance Kristof
<DIV></DIV>and his gang in North Belgium so on - if it wasnt for universities etc,
<DIV></DIV>SignWriting wont be introduced to Kasterlinden - and theres a good
<DIV></DIV>chance Kasterlinden might not even go bilingual if it wasn't for the
<DIV></DIV>universities.<BR>

<DIV></DIV>With attitudes like that in Dublin, I dont think we ll see SignWriting being introduced to the 3 deaf schools at Cabra :-(<BR>
