Hello Juliette and list,

I think I know what you mean with your question, I've had it too ;) I'm also looking for other teachers who use SignWriting in their classrooms. Often you can learn a lot when you communicate with them or can visit. That's what I thought after a visit to Stefan's school.

I'm happy to say I've had an email from Nigeria, they want to come to Belgium to see how we work with SignWriting. So I'll keep you posted how that turns out ;)

There is also a 'lecture-workshop' about Sign Language research in Nijmegen (Holland) 9-14 january and there will be an afternoon workshop about the Brazilian project, education and SignWriting. So I'm very curious about that ;) Take a look :) They have had about 10 years of experience with SignWriting...

I think you'll find different teachers use SignWriting for very different reasons. Maybe some people will use it to enhance the spoken language in time.. others may find it a cheaper alternative then video. My main reasons are that SignWriting gives the children a notion of a language, it's value and it makes them aware of different aspects of that language. Ect... ;)

Greetings Kathleen

ps: Val, my headmaster just informed me that we'll probably get funds to finally instal the D-link videophone's :) We'll be able to contact different people all over :) jippie!! I've sent him the information I found on the list, on the web and via Daniel Noelpp so fingers crossed ;) ...
